Procedure:
Set A is loaded into the media mill and
the mill is run continuously for 44 hours.
The mill is then emptied and the contents
are dried. The weight loss is then
measured with help of a sensitive scale.
The same procedure is repeated for Set B.
Since media mills are loaded on volume
basis, we have taken equal volumes of
media. Hence to determine wear rate, we
have to evaluate it as a part of the
initial weight and the time the mill was
run.

*Wear Rate
per Hour is evaluated by the following
equation:
Wear Rate =
(Original weight – Final Weight)
(Original Weight x Time)
Relative Wear
Rate of YSZ with reference to Magnesia
Stabilized Zirconia:
From the above results, it may be surmised
that Magnesia Stabilized Zirconia wears
about 6 times faster than Yttria
Stabilized Zirconia.
